I'm told that printing for Viggo's new book has just finished & that it will be available at the end of January!
"Viggo Mortensen: Signlanguage"
it has 84 pages of color and black and white reproductions. It's $25 softcover & $40 hardcover.
Signlanguage is a book of Viggo's most recent photographs and paintings
with an introduction by art critic Kevin Power. It does not contain
poetry or a CD.

Fellowship Of The Rings A Huge Triumph! (NEW)
It's official New Line's big investment of 400 million to produce the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy is paying of big time!
as it stands now Fellowship has made $119 million in one week!!! By the time it stops showing in the US it'll have made about
$200 million. And you add another $150 million for how much it will make internationally & we haven't even talked about the huge
profit from the merchadice. By the time it's over Fellowship alone will pay for the ENTIRE trilogy & promotional costs.
Not bad? All this on top of the fact that Fellowship has received praise from both fans & critics & is number 1 at the box office for a second week!!

Just wanted to recap the upcoming LOTR specials on cable television.
December 16th on MSNBC,
will air a special as an episode of the program National Georgaphic Explorer 8pm EST
December 7th,8th & 9th on TNT
at 10:50 pm EST will air a special just after the movie "The Matrix".
December 9th at 8pm, the 10th at 1am, 9pm & 12pm on The Sci Fi Channel,
will air a special with cast interviews.
December 10th at 10pm est & the 11th at 5pm est on MTV
will air a LOTR special.
December 14th at 3:30pm est on MTV
will air a live interview with the LOTR cast on their show "TRL".

I've already mentioned several upcoming behind-the-scenes specials on TV. Well now I've learned of
a Viggo interview that will air on Dec 7,8th & 9th at 8pm on TNT. It will air during the movie "The Matrix". An interview with Elija Wood will also air on those dates.

Viggo's New Tattoo Revealed!!
As you might have read Viggo along with the other eight actors who play members of the "Fellowship" in
the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy were all given a custom one of a kind tattoo. For a long time this tattoo was
kept a secret. Elija Wood recently showed off his. Look at it HERE.
This tattoo is the 'number nine' in the elvin language J. R. R. tolkien created. Each actor has the tattoo on a different place, Wood's is on his ankle.
Lord Of The Rings TV Specials!!
There have been many mentions of the LOTR trilogy lately on almost every TV channel but nothing
we haven't heard already. There are two hour long TV specials that promise to give us more.
- Thursday the 29th of November at 9pm eastern on Fox Network there will be an hour long special.
- Sunday the 9th of December at 8pm eastern on The Sci Fi Channel.
Both will give a behind the scene peek at the trilogy. Mark them on your calendar.
New Viggo Movies??
My sources tell me that Viggo is being considered for two movies still in pre production.:
Sudden Darkness: a drama about a drifter who terrorizes a group of kids. Directed by
Des McAnuff, the movie would also star John Malkovich and Matt Dillon. Mortensen
has already starred with both men before. Viggo starred with Dillon in Albino Aligator and with Malkovich in The Portrait Of A Lady.
The Brides: a drama set in the 1920's, tells the stories of mail order brides.
Martin Scorsese is listed as being executive producer, at this point only Viggo is considered for the cast.

Lord Of The Rings Update (NOV 5th)
-The filming of Fellowship Of The Ring (first film in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy) is finished & finished copies have begun to be distributed to New Line Cinema insiders & soon to the first theaters to show the film world wide.
-The sound track to the film is also now available for pre order (for November 20th) here .
-Two film related, hard cover books The Fellowship of the
Ring Visual Companion and
The Lord of the Rings Official Movie Guide become available November 6th.
Official Viggo Mortensen Web Site?
With the immanent success of the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy the movie's cast must be preparing themselves for all the new fans that will join their following. Along with the countless interviews & appearances
the trilogy's cast is making it a point to establish a presence on the net. No doubt hoping to connect with the soon to explode online fan base. With the US premier only a month away there is now one noticeable exception to this trend among cast members, Viggo Mortensen.
Like any other curious fan I started to ask my sources about this issue, 'Will Viggo get an official web site?' till now the answer remains 'I don't know'. The domain that Viggo's agency would most likely purchase" http://www.viggomortensen.com/" was recently purchased, but my souces confirm that it was not by anyone related to Mr Mortensen or his agency.
So the question remains. Hopefully Viggo's growing online fan base will eventually encourage him to take the internet plunge. Their isn't one fan among us who wouldn't love to enjoy his unique insights even if it's in a generalized manner, through a web site.
Viggo's Newest Exhibit

Viggo's newest gallery showing (at Track 16) called "Sign Language" will be available from Saturday,
February 2 until March 30. It is most likely Viggo will only attend the the February 2nd debut reception. He will be sharing the exhibit with Pedro Meyer, one of Mexico's leading photographers. Viggo's New CD Coming Soon!!
After the one year & a half hiatus Viggo Mortensen took from his art & poetry to
film "The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy" fans are more than ready for a new dose of
his unique poetry, song & music. Hopefully they won't have to wait long! Viggo's new CD
is already in production & is scheduled to be released early next year. As in
previous Viggo recordings, Buckethead will again include his unique sound to the mix.
Even though the new CD is yet to be finished it seems the theme of the new work may
be less poetry & more music/sound mixes. Though that may change before it is released.
Viggo at Track 16 Exhibit Debut
On February 3rd 2001 Viggo Mortensen accompanied by his ex-wife Exene Cervenka & his Lord Of The rings costar Elija woods
attended the debut reception of the Track 16 Gallery's latest exhibit
"Capital Art" .
This exhibit, dedicated to Mumia Abu-Jamal, gives artists the forum to "explore issues of police brutality, the prison system, the death penalty, and the culture of
punishment". Viggo contributed this
multimedia piece to the exibit. If you are in the area you'll have to March 31, 2001 to check it out.

Viggo In "Original Sin"?
There has been much uncertainty over whether or not Viggo would star along side Antonis Banderas & Angelina Jolie
in the period thriller "Original Sin". It seems that the controversy is over, Viggo's name has been removed from the movie's cast list
at the Internet Movie Database.
As to why, it's possible he was unable to accept the role because of his work in Lord Of The Rings, or (and I hope this is not true) his scenes in the movie could have been edited out.
