Chilling, prickling,the heavy and clear stream
rides into the sore hole in the top of his hand.
Between the bones, through his wrist joint,deep
into the stiff and stringy muscle of his forearm.
The cool spreads to his shoulder and across his
chest,pushing the ache up the back of his neck
and into his hair. The poison is being com-
batted, he remembers being told by someone.
